Lamu

Lamu is beautiful and unique, it's the oldest standing city in East Africa. Its traditional Swahili style has been carved in the city by being the first stopover port between Africa and Orient and being colonized by many diferent cultures.
 

To go to the Lamu Island you have to go by plane from Nairobi to a funny airport in Manda Island, only 12 Kilos of luggage (pareos and flip-flops recommended). From Manda, after a short ship travel you arrive in front of the Lamu city, capital of the island.
You can find the most interesting cultural activities here in the city, but for accomodation, relax and to enjoy the paradise beaches we recommend you to stay in the nearby Shela village, just 10 minutes away by boat or 45 enjoying a pleasant walk by the sea.
